iPhone Ultra Dummy Units Leak: Best Look Yet at Apple's Foldable

The iPhone Ultra, Apple's long-rumored first foldable, has appeared in its most realistic form yet. New dummy units shared by leaker Sonny Dickson include working-looking screens, and the mockups give the clearest picture so far of how Apple's book-style foldable is shaping up ahead of an expected reveal later this year — including the one detail Apple reportedly could not engineer away: the crease.

Dummy units with screens make the design concrete
Previous iPhone Ultra mockups were blank slabs. The latest units add display panels, which makes the proportions much easier to judge. The phone is reported to be short and wide, closer to a small iPad when opened flat than to the tall, narrow foldables Samsung and Google have shipped so far.

A centered camera cut-out — a first for Apple
On the outer display, the dummy units show an edge-to-edge screen with a circular camera cut-out placed in the center, something no iPhone has done before. The camera on the inner display sits far to the left, and the back carries a horizontal camera bar with a dual-camera setup.

One color, reportedly
According to Dickson, the iPhone Ultra will be offered in white only. That would be an unusually narrow launch palette for Apple, though single-color first runs are not unheard of for brand-new product categories.

The crease is still there
The dummy units reproduce a faint crease running down the middle of the inner display. One rumor puts the final figure at 0.15 mm deep with a fold angle under 2.5 degrees, which would be shallower than most rivals. Apple is reported to be using a structural glass mid-frame and advances in optically clear adhesive to keep the fold line as flat as possible, so the retail unit may look better than these mockups suggest — dummy units are built by accessory makers to test fit, not to match display hardware.

Reported specs so far
Leaks point to a 5.5-inch outer screen, a 7.8-inch inner display, Touch ID instead of Face ID, a titanium frame, and Apple's A20 chipset. As with every foldable, some compromises are expected against the conventional iPhone 18 Pro, particularly on camera hardware and battery size. None of this is confirmed by Apple, and specifications this far from launch routinely shift.
