Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Launch Date Set for July 22 Unpacked

Samsung's next Galaxy Unpacked event is shaping up to be one of its biggest in years, with reports now pointing to July 22 in London for the reveal of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 alongside two other new foldable phones. Promotional vouchers spotted in the Samsung Members app, tied to pre-order windows starting on that date, have all but confirmed the timing even though Samsung hasn't made an official announcement.

Three foldables instead of two
This year's lineup reportedly includes the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, a tall book-style foldable that takes over as the direct successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, alongside a new Galaxy Z Fold 8 with a wider 4:3 outer screen designed to feel more like a standard phone when closed. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 rounds out the trio as the smaller update of the three.

A new naming strategy
Samsung appears to be borrowing the Ultra branding from its Galaxy S line for the first time on a foldable, positioning the Z Fold 8 Ultra as its most premium book-style device yet. The move suggests Samsung sees the wider Z Fold 8 as a lasting addition to the lineup rather than a one-off experiment.

Camera and battery upgrades
Early reports point to a triple camera system on the Z Fold 8 Ultra headlined by a 200MP primary sensor, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a new 50MP ultrawide, along with a larger 5,000 mAh battery and faster 45W charging. The wider Z Fold 8 is said to be getting a double 50MP camera setup suited to its landscape-first design.

Watches and glasses join the stage
Samsung is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, both reportedly moving to Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear Elite processor. Alongside the watches, Samsung's first pair of AI smart glasses, built around Google's Gemini and expected to price between $379 and $499, may get a formal reveal at the same event.

Pricing pressure from memory costs
Industry-wide memory chip shortages are pushing component costs up across the board, and some reports suggest the priciest Z Fold 8 Ultra configuration could exceed $2,700. Samsung has generally tried to hold the line on base pricing in recent launches, so the entry-tier prices are worth watching closely once the event is confirmed.

Protect your Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 with a Komodoty case
A foldable this advanced deserves protection that doesn't get in the way of the hinge or the new wider display. Komodoty makes precise cases for Samsung Galaxy phones with accurate cutouts, slim profiles, and support for wireless charging where available.
