Acer Sospiro A15 Launches With Rear Display and 64MP Camera

The Acer Sospiro A15 is Acer's first new smartphone in years, and it arrives with a feature almost never seen at the budget level: a second display on the back of the phone. Announced for select Latin American markets, the Sospiro A15 takes a design idea from far more expensive flagships and puts it on an entry-level Android handset with a 64MP camera and a 120Hz screen.

The headline feature is a small 1.88-inch TFT panel with a 240 x 284 resolution, built into the rear of the phone next to the camera. A microSD slot accepts cards up to 1TB, so local storage is not a concern even at this price point. This is hardware aimed at everyday messaging, browsing, and media rather than heavy gaming.

A 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging
The battery comes in at 5,000mAh, a healthy size for a phone with a 720p screen and an efficient chipset, and it charges over a wired connection at 18W. Light users should comfortably clear a full day.

Acer has confirmed the phone for select Latin American markets, and pricing has not been announced yet. Coverage from Gizmochina notes the launch marks Acer's return to smartphones after a long break from the category, with no word yet on a wider international release.
