Amazon Launches Alexa Tablet 8, 11, and 12 Pro From $230

Amazon's new Alexa Tablet lineup, announced October 8, 2026, replaces the familiar Fire tablet name with three models: the Alexa Tablet 8, Alexa Tablet 11, and Alexa Tablet 12 Pro. All three run Android 16 with access to the Google Play Store, a change from the Fire OS app store buyers knew before.

The entry-level Alexa Tablet 8
Starting at $230, the Alexa Tablet 8 has an 8.7-inch display, an 8-core CPU with a 2-core GPU, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB or 128GB of storage. It's 0.3 inches thick, weighs 16.4 ounces, and is rated for up to 14 hours of video or 19 hours of reading.

A sharper screen on the Alexa Tablet 11
At $330, the Alexa Tablet 11 steps up to an 11-inch, 2.5K display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 16:10 aspect ratio, backed by 8GB of RAM, dual Dolby Atmos speakers, and a fingerprint sensor, with up to 15 hours of video playback.

The 12 Pro tops the lineup
The $500 Alexa Tablet 12 Pro has a 12-inch, 280 PPI display at 120Hz with a 3:2 aspect ratio, an 8-core CPU with a 7-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage, plus a fingerprint sensor and up to 16 hours of video or 20 hours of reading. A Nanomatte anti-glare finish adds $50, with a $90 Pro Pen and $150 Pro Keyboard sold separately.

Kids versions and rollout dates
Amazon also sells kids versions of the Alexa Tablet 8 and 11 with a kid-proof case and a year of Amazon Kids+ included. The new lineup reached the US, Mexico, and Canada on October 14, 2026, followed by the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain five days later.

No expandable storage this time
None of the three models include a microSD slot, so buyers who want more than the built-in 64GB or 128GB will need to plan around cloud storage or a higher-capacity configuration up front.

Why the name change matters
Dropping the Fire branding for Alexa Tablet lines the hardware up with Amazon's voice-assistant naming across its other devices, and the move to full Google Play access addresses one of the longest-running complaints about the older Fire tablet app selection. Existing Fire tablet owners won't see any of these changes on their current hardware, since the new name and app store apply only to this new generation.
