Apple's First Touchscreen MacBook Pro Reportedly Set for October 27
Apple's first touchscreen MacBook Pro may be closer than expected, with a new report pointing to an event around October 27, 2026. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who first reported the touchscreen Mac project back in 2023, says Apple is preparing to show the redesigned MacBook Pro alongside several other Mac and iPad models this month.
A touchscreen MacBook Pro in two sizes
The report names two internal code names, K114 and K116, matching 14-inch and 16-inch models. Both are said to be lighter than today's MacBook Pro, with OLED displays replacing the current mini-LED screens and a Dynamic Island cutout added to the top of the display, similar to recent iPhone and iPad Pro models.
What's still unconfirmed
Earlier Bloomberg reporting had pointed to M5 Pro and M5 Max chips for the touchscreen model, though the newest report doesn't name a specific processor. Apple hasn't confirmed the touchscreen MacBook Pro, the event, or any of its specifications, so these details remain reporting rather than official word from the company.
A second wave of Mac and iPad news
The same report says Apple plans to show a standard M6 14-inch MacBook Pro and an M6 iMac at the same event, both expected to look like their current counterparts rather than carry a design change. An OLED iPad mini is also said to be part of the lineup, with more Macs and iPads reportedly planned for the first half of 2027.
How the event is expected to run
Gurman's report describes an online video presentation with an in-person component for the press, following the same format Apple used for its October 13 smart home event. The pitch for the touchscreen MacBook Pro is aimed squarely at creative professionals working in video, photo, and music production.
Price is an open question
Apple has given no indication of pricing for a first-generation touchscreen MacBook Pro. Gurman's reporting has suggested a first-generation model in a new category like this will likely carry a premium over the standard MacBook Pro, though no figures have surfaced.
A date that keeps getting repeated
Gurman reiterated the October 27 timeline again on a podcast on October 15, which keeps the date consistent across his reporting so far even as Apple stays silent. Until Apple confirms an event, the date and every spec tied to it should be treated as a report rather than a fact.
