Article: iOS 27 Bill Splitting Comes to Wallet

iOS 27 Bill Splitting Comes to Wallet

iOS 27 is expected to add a Wallet feature that lets iPhone users split restaurant bills by taking a photo of a receipt.

How the receipt tool works

The reported feature would let a user photograph a restaurant receipt, assign individual items to different people, and calculate each person’s share.

The system is also expected to account for tax and tip before creating payment requests.

Apple Cash handles the payment request

After the bill is divided, Wallet would generate payment requests through Apple Cash. This could reduce the need for separate bill-splitting apps when everyone in the group uses supported Apple services.

Apple Cash availability is still an important limit. The service is currently tied to Apple’s own payment system, so access may depend on region and user setup.

Wallet may also gain custom passes

iOS 27 is also expected to add a new way to create custom Wallet passes from QR codes. This could make it easier to store tickets, memberships, and similar passes directly in Apple Wallet.

The feature would make Wallet more useful for everyday items beyond payment cards, transit cards, and digital keys.

What iPhone users should know

Apple has not confirmed the full feature set in public release notes yet. The bill-splitting tool is expected to be discussed around WWDC, with the wider iOS 27 release expected later alongside Apple’s next iPhone cycle.

For iPhone users, the main value is convenience: scan the receipt, assign the items, and send payment requests from the same app.

iOS 27 could make Apple Wallet more practical for daily payments, especially for iPhone owners who already use Apple Cash. For iPhone case protection and everyday accessories, visit Komodoty at https://komodoty.com/collections/iphone-cases.
