Poco F9 Ultra Launches With 200MP Camera and 8,050mAh Battery
The Poco F9 Ultra is now official, and Xiaomi's sub-brand is leading with two numbers: a 200-megapixel main camera and an 8,050mAh battery, both large for a phone starting at $799. The Poco F9 Ultra pairs those headline specs with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, positioning it as one of the better-equipped phones in its price range this year.
The camera system
The 200-megapixel main sensor uses an f/1.68 aperture with optical image stabilization and can record 8K video at 30fps. It's joined by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom at a 120mm equivalent focal length, plus a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera.
Battery and charging
The 8,050mAh battery is one of the largest on a phone this size, and it supports 100W wired charging, reaching a full charge in around 50 minutes, alongside 50W wireless charging that hits 50% in about 37 minutes.
Display
Poco fitted the F9 Ultra with a 6.9-inch 1.5K AMOLED display running at a 185Hz refresh rate, aimed at smooth scrolling and gaming as much as everyday use. That refresh rate is among the highest on any phone currently sold at this price, and it should make fast-paced games and quick scrolling look noticeably smoother than on a standard 120Hz panel.
Performance
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset puts the Poco F9 Ultra on the same silicon as several 2026 flagships, a notable step up for a Poco-branded phone historically positioned as a value option. Paired with the large battery, it points to a phone built for sustained gaming sessions as much as everyday multitasking.
Pricing tiers
The Poco F9 Ultra starts at $799 for the 12GB/256GB configuration, moves to $949 for 16GB/512GB, and tops out at $1,199 for the 16GB/1TB model, alongside the separately launched Poco F9 Pro. That range puts the top configuration close to premium flagship territory, though the base model still undercuts most rivals with comparable camera hardware.
Audio hardware
Poco also fitted the F9 Ultra with a rear-facing speaker setup designed to add bass and volume beyond what a typical phone's bottom-firing speaker can manage, part of a broader push to make the F9 Ultra feel less like a budget device and more like a flagship in its own right.
A phone carrying this much camera hardware and battery capacity is worth protecting properly. The Poco F9 Ultra fits Komodoty's precise Xiaomi cases, built from materials like slim wood with a Kevlar core and aramid fiber, with cutouts mapped to the camera module and support for wireless charging.
