Samsung Confirms Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2 for July 22 Unpacked
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 are now official names, confirmed by Samsung itself ahead of the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22 in London. The confirmation, reported by GSMArena, ends months of speculation about what Samsung's 2026 wearables will be called and locks in the lineup that will share the stage with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series.
Three wearables confirmed for Unpacked
Samsung's naming confirmation covers three products: the Galaxy Watch 9, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and the Galaxy Able, the company's first clip-on open-ear earbuds. All three are set for the July 22 event, making this one of Samsung's busiest wearable launches in years.
Reported chips: Snapdragon comes to Galaxy Watch
According to pre-launch reports, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will run the new Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset, while the standard Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to stay on Samsung's Exynos W1000. If accurate, this would be a notable split: the Ultra line moving to Qualcomm silicon while the mainstream watch keeps the in-house chip.
Bigger batteries reported across the line
Leaked specifications point to a 382mAh cell in the 40mm Galaxy Watch 9, a reported increase of around 23 percent over its predecessor, while the Watch Ultra 2 is said to target a 784mAh battery. Battery life has long been the main complaint against Galaxy Watches, so these reported gains address the right weakness.
5G on a Galaxy Watch for the first time
Firmware findings suggest the Watch Ultra 2 will come in 4G, 5G, and Wi-Fi-only variants, which would make it the first Galaxy Watch with 5G connectivity. Display details have also surfaced: a 438 x 438 panel on the 40mm Watch 9, with 480 x 480 on the 44mm model and the Ultra 2.
Reported pricing points upward
European price reports place the range between roughly €409 and €749, with a separate report putting the Watch Ultra 2 at $699 in the US. Nothing is confirmed until July 22, and these figures should be read as reports rather than final prices.
What to watch on July 22
The open questions are health features, final battery life numbers, and whether the reported price increases hold. Samsung has confirmed the names and the date; the specs above remain unofficial until the devices are on stage.
