Vivo X500 Pro Max Review: 200MP Camera Headlines Flagship Specs

The Vivo X500 Pro Max has drawn a fresh round of reviews and head-to-head comparisons as outlets take a closer look at its camera-first design. Launched in China, the phone is built around a 200-megapixel telephoto camera paired with two other 50-megapixel sensors, and reviewers are now weighing whether the hardware lives up to the specs sheet.

A three-camera setup led by a 200MP telephoto
The rear camera array pairs a 50MP main sensor (f/1.57) and a 50MP ultrawide (f/2.0) with a 200MP telephoto lens (f/2.67). The front camera is 50MP, and the phone can record video up to 4K at 240fps, giving it one of the more camera-heavy specs sheets in its class.

Performance built on Dimensity 9600 Pro
Power comes from MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, built on a 2nm process and clocked up to 4.55GHz, paired with a Mali-G2-Ultra-NX GPU. The phone supports up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.

Display and battery
The Vivo X500 Pro Max uses a 6.85-inch 2K AMOLED display at 1440 x 3168 resolution, 507ppi, with a refresh rate up to 144Hz. An 8,000mAh battery backs it up, with 90W wired charging and 40W wireless charging.

Pricing in China
In China, the Vivo X500 Pro Max starts at CNY 6,999 for the 12GB plus 256GB configuration, rising to CNY 8,999 for 12GB plus 1TB. A 16GB plus 1TB bundle with Vivo's Creator Kit is priced at CNY 12,999.

How reviewers are framing it
Recent coverage has focused on comparing the X500 Pro Max against the standard X500 Pro and against competitors like Xiaomi's 17 Ultra, with the telephoto camera and battery size as the main talking points. The verdict across most reviews is that the camera system is the phone's strongest selling point.

Availability outside China
Vivo has not confirmed a global rollout for the X500 Pro Max at the time of writing, so buyers outside China should treat current coverage as a look at flagship Android camera technology rather than a confirmed international release.

How it stacks up against the regular X500 Pro
The step up from the standard X500 Pro to the Pro Max centers mainly on the telephoto camera and battery capacity, with reviewers noting the Pro Max asks a higher price for a longer zoom range and a larger cell rather than a fundamentally different camera system. For buyers who rarely use zoom, the smaller X500 Pro remains the more balanced option.

Why the camera comparisons keep coming
Because the X500 Pro Max arrived close to Xiaomi's 17 Ultra and other camera-first flagships, outlets have leaned heavily on side-by-side comparisons rather than standalone reviews. That has kept the phone in headlines well past its original September launch window, which is part of why it is still generating fresh coverage now.
