Galaxy Z Fold 8 Pre-Orders Triple the Fold 7 as Shipping Dates Slip

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 has run into the kind of problem most phone launches would welcome: far more buyers than Samsung planned for. Korean reports put pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 line at roughly three times what the Galaxy Z Fold 7 managed a year ago, and the company is now struggling to get units out on schedule.

Pre-orders reportedly three times higher than the Fold 7
Korean media have placed Galaxy Z Fold 8 pre-order volume at around 3x the Fold 7's totals. A Samsung official has said the delivery slippage is a direct result of demand running past internal forecasts, which is an unusual admission for a foldable line that has historically sold in modest numbers next to the Galaxy S series.

Shipping estimates have moved back
The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 has seen estimated shipping dates on Samsung's own store pushed as far out as October. The Fold 8 Ultra has fared better, with most orders slipping by a few days up to roughly three weeks. Both models were originally set to begin shipping on August 7.

Colors and storage tiers sold out
Reports out of Korea indicate Samsung's store ran through every color and storage configuration of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 during the pre-order window. That is the practical reason the estimated dates jumped: the queue is longer than the first production run.

Not every retailer is backed up
The delays are not uniform across sellers. Best Buy has continued to list both the Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra as available in time for the original date, and listings at Amazon have not shown the same slippage. Anyone who missed Samsung's own allocation may still see a shorter wait through a third-party retailer.

The Ultra split is doing work
Part of the demand story is the new two-size structure. Samsung has framed the Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra as an answer to the fact that one size does not fit every buyer, and splitting the line gave people a smaller, lighter book-style foldable alongside the large flagship. Coverage this week also suggests the Fold 8 family has pulled more pre-orders than the Galaxy S26 series did.
