iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone 15 Pro

The iPhone 18 Pro brings several hardware changes over the iPhone 15 Pro, including the A20 Pro chip, a larger display, longer battery life and a new variable-aperture main camera.

iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone 15 Pro specs

The iPhone 18 Pro uses Apple's A20 Pro chip, while the iPhone 15 Pro runs on the A17 Pro. Both phones support Apple Intelligence, with the newer processor providing additional processing capacity for demanding workloads and on-device AI features.

Screen size has also increased. The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, compared with the 6.1-inch panel on the iPhone 15 Pro.

Battery life gets a major increase

Battery life is one of the more significant differences between these two generations. The newer model provides considerably longer rated video playback than the iPhone 15 Pro.

For people regularly using their phone for video, navigation, photography or other demanding tasks, the increased battery capacity is a practical hardware change.

A20 Pro replaces the A17 Pro

The iPhone 15 Pro's A17 Pro remains a capable processor and supports Apple Intelligence. It has enough performance for gaming, photography, video editing and everyday applications.

The iPhone 18 Pro moves to the newer A20 Pro processor, providing additional processing capacity for demanding applications and AI workloads.

The camera system has changed

The iPhone 15 Pro has a 48MP main camera supported by 12MP ultrawide and 12MP 3x telephoto cameras.

The iPhone 18 Pro moves to a triple 48MP rear camera system. Its main camera also includes variable aperture, allowing the camera to adjust the amount of light entering the lens according to shooting conditions.

The newer model also includes Camera Control for direct access to photography and video functions.

The front camera is more capable

The iPhone 15 Pro uses a 12MP front camera, while the iPhone 18 Pro has an 18MP Center Stage front camera.

Center Stage can keep people positioned within the frame during supported video calls. The newer phone also supports Dual Capture for recording with front and rear cameras simultaneously.

Durability has changed too

The iPhone 15 Pro uses Ceramic Shield protection on the front of the handset.

The iPhone 18 Pro adds Ceramic Shield protection to the back and uses Ceramic Shield 2 on the front. Both phones carry an IP68 water and dust resistance rating.

Is the iPhone 15 Pro still practical?

The iPhone 15 Pro remains a capable handset with its A17 Pro processor, triple-camera system and Apple Intelligence support.

For existing owners, the main hardware differences offered by the newer model include longer battery life, a larger 6.3-inch display, A20 Pro performance, updated cameras and the 18MP Center Stage front camera.
