Article: Phones Getting AirDrop on Android

Phones Getting AirDrop on Android

Quick Share support is expanding

Google Quick Share is expanding AirDrop-style file sharing support across more Android phones, with Google confirming both current and upcoming compatible devices.

Google first added this wireless sharing option to Android through Quick Share in November 2025. At first, support was limited to some Pixel phones and a small number of devices from other brands. That rollout is now widening.

What Google announced

At the Android Show on May 12, Google shared a list of phones that already support the feature and another list scheduled to get it soon. In a separate comment to The Verge, Google also said Xiaomi phones will get this feature later this year, but it did not name specific models.

Phones with current support

Phones that already support the feature include the Google Pixel 10 series, Pixel 9 series, and Pixel 8a. Support is also live on the Samsung Galaxy S26, OPPO Find X9, OPPO Find N6, and vivo X300 Ultra.

Phones getting support next

Google says support is coming next to the Samsung Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Fold7 and Fold6, Flip7 and Flip6, and Galaxy TriFold. The same update is also planned for the OPPO Find X8 series, OnePlus 15, HONOR Magic V6, and HONOR Magic8 Pro.

Extra sharing options

Google also said users can now create QR codes to share data more quickly with iOS devices through the cloud. That gives Android users another sharing method when direct device support is not available.

More app integration ahead

Quick Share is also expected to appear inside more apps over time, including WhatsApp. That matters because it could make cross-device file sharing easier without forcing users to leave the app they are already using.

Broader Android changes

This update is part of a wider set of Android announcements made during the Android Show. Google also presented new Android 17 changes, Gemini-related features, and other updates across its software products.

Final takeaway

Google Quick Share support is becoming more useful as it reaches more flagship Android phones from Google, Samsung, OPPO, vivo, OnePlus, and HONOR. If you use a Google Pixel phone and want matching accessories, check out Komodoty Pixel cases at https://komodoty.com/collections/pixel
