Redmi Turbo 5 Reaches India With 7,540mAh Battery and Dimensity 8500 Ultra Chip

The Redmi Turbo 5 reached India in June 2026, led by one of the largest batteries ever put in a phone this size. After debuting in China earlier in the year, the Indian model arrives with a few upgrades of its own and a price that keeps it in mid-range territory.

A huge battery in a slim body
The Redmi Turbo 5 packs a 7,540mAh silicon-carbon battery, yet the phone stays close to 8mm thick and weighs around 204 grams. Silicon-carbon chemistry lets Xiaomi fit far more capacity into the same space, which is the main reason the Turbo 5 can run so long between charges. It is also the largest battery Redmi has put in a phone to date, and the Indian model edges out the Chinese version on capacity.

Fast charging both ways
It supports 100W wired HyperCharge, and the charger is included in the box rather than sold separately. There is also 27W reverse wired charging, so the Turbo 5 can top up another device much like a power bank when a friend's phone runs low.

Performance
The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, a 4nm chip paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. It was among the first phones to ship with the Ultra version of the chip. Xiaomi added a vapor-chamber cooling system to keep performance steady during long gaming sessions and heavy multitasking.

Display and camera
The Redmi Turbo 5 has a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and a high touch sampling rate that suits gaming. On the back sits a 50MP Sony IMX882 main camera with optical image stabilization, joined by a 20MP front camera on the Indian model that handles selfies and video calls.

Tough and affordable
Build quality is a strong point, with IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings against dust and water, plus Gorilla Glass 7i on the front. In India it starts at about 37,999 rupees, keeping it affordable despite the flagship-size battery and cooling hardware, and it lands against rivals like the OnePlus and Poco mid-rangers.

Software
The Turbo 5 runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3 on top, with multiple major OS updates promised, so it should feel current well beyond its first year on sale.
