Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Drops $500 Ahead of July 22 Unpacked

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 just became a much easier purchase: Samsung has cut $500 off every storage configuration in the run-up to the Galaxy Z Fold 8's debut at Unpacked on July 22. Last year's flagship foldable is still one of the best big-screen phones on sale, and this is among the deepest first-party discounts it has seen.

The discount, model by model
With the $500 cut applied, the 256GB Galaxy Z Fold 7 sells for $1,500, down from $2,000. The 512GB model drops to $1,700 from $2,200, and the 1TB version falls to $2,000 from $2,500. The reduction applies across all colors and requires no trade-in or carrier commitment.

Where and when
The promotion runs from July 6 through July 19 at Samsung.com and in the Shop Samsung app, while supplies last. PhoneArena reports Amazon has matched the $500 discount on its own listings, though stock there has been thinning since Z Fold 8 pre-order details went public.

Open-box units go even lower
Deal tracker 9to5Toys reports open-box Galaxy Z Fold 7 units at Best Buy priced up to $790 below the original retail price. Open-box condition varies, so check the listing grade, but for buyers comfortable with a returned unit, it is the lowest route into Samsung's book-style foldable right now. The full rundown is in the 9to5Toys report.

Why the timing makes sense
Samsung has confirmed its next Galaxy Unpacked event for July 22 in London, where the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to headline alongside new Galaxy Watch models. Clearing Z Fold 7 inventory ahead of that reveal is standard practice for Samsung, and it is also the point in the product cycle when the outgoing model reaches its best price-to-hardware ratio. The same pattern played out last summer before the Fold 7 itself arrived.

Buy now or wait for the Fold 8?
If you want the newest hardware, the answer arrives on July 22. But new foldables rarely launch with meaningful discounts, and the Z Fold 8 is widely expected to cost as much as or more than the Fold 7 did at launch. For buyers who care about the price-per-feature math rather than the model year, a $500 cut on a one-year-old flagship is the stronger deal.

Protect a folding investment
A Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 at $1,500 is still a serious purchase, and its hinge and large displays reward proper protection. Komodoty makes slim cases for Samsung Galaxy phones in aramid fiber and slim wood with a Kevlar core, with precise cutouts and wireless charging support.
