Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8: July 22 Unpacked Date, 200MP Camera, and a New Wide Model

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is shaping up as Samsung's next big foldable, and the latest reports point to a July 22 reveal. Nothing is official yet, so treat the details below as leaks and expectations rather than confirmed facts.

Expected launch date
Reports suggest Samsung will show the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at an Unpacked event on July 22, 2026, possibly in London, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Pre-orders are expected to open the same day, with phones reaching buyers around early August.

A brighter, bigger main screen
Leaks describe an 8-inch inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness up to 2,600 nits. If accurate, that would be a large step over the Z Fold 7's panel and would help readability in direct sunlight.

Camera upgrades
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is reported to carry a 200MP main sensor, the same size used on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, plus a 50MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. The ultrawide would be a jump from the 12MP unit on the previous Fold.

Performance and battery
Reports point to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip and up to 16GB of RAM. The battery is said to stay at 5,000mAh with 45W wired charging, so gains there would come from efficiency rather than a bigger cell.

A new Wide model
One of the more interesting rumours is a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide: a lighter, more tablet-shaped variant said to use a 7.6-inch 4:3 inner screen, a 5.4-inch cover screen, a weight near 200g, and a dual 50MP camera without a telephoto lens.

Price expectations
Pricing is unconfirmed, but reports place the base 256GB Galaxy Z Fold 8 near $1,999, with higher-storage versions climbing well past $2,000. Samsung has not commented, so the figures may shift before launch. Background is at PhoneArena.

What to watch for
The two questions worth tracking before the reveal are whether the Wide model is real and how Samsung prices the higher-storage tiers. Both will decide how the Galaxy Z Fold 8 stacks up against the foldable competition this year. Until Samsung confirms anything on stage, the safest read is that the broad shape of the phone is known but the exact numbers are not.

Get ready for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 with a Komodoty case
Foldables put a hinge, two panels, and a camera bar at risk, so a fitted case matters from day one. Komodoty makes slim cases for Samsung Galaxy phones in aramid fiber, Alcantara, and slim wood with a Kevlar core, with precise cutouts and wireless charging support. See the lineup in the Komodoty Samsung cases collection.
