Apple Plans New iPad Pro and Redesigned Entry-Level MacBook Pro for Early 2027

The Apple iPad Pro is in line for a major update in the first half of 2027, according to a new Bloomberg report picked up by TechCrunch. The same report says a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro is coming in the same window, giving buyers a clear picture of where Apple's tablet and laptop lines are heading.

Four new iPad Pro models in testing
Apple is reportedly testing four new iPad Pro models, planned to arrive in spring 2027. The new tablets are said to keep the current 11-inch and 13-inch display sizes, so this generation looks like an internals upgrade rather than a change in form factor. The current M5-powered iPad Pro models remain on sale in the meantime.

A redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro
On the laptop side, Apple is said to be developing a new entry-level MacBook Pro, known internally as K104. A redesign at the affordable end of the Pro lineup would be notable: the base MacBook Pro has kept broadly the same shape for years while the higher-end models moved ahead.

The first M7 chips arrive with them
Bloomberg's reporting also points to Apple targeting the same early-2027 period for its first M7 processor. If the timing holds, the 2027 iPad Pro would be among the first devices to carry the new silicon, continuing Apple's recent pattern of debuting new M-series chips in the tablet before most Macs get them.

Still coming in 2026: an M6 MacBook Pro update
The 2027 plans do not empty this year's calendar. Apple is reported to be updating the base 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 chip later in 2026, a simple spec bump ahead of the bigger redesign that follows.

A crowded anniversary year
The timing lines up with the iPhone's 20th anniversary in 2027, a year Apple is reportedly loading with major launches. MacRumors counts around 16 products still in the pipeline for the rest of 2026 alone, so the release cadence between now and mid-2027 looks unusually dense. As always with roadmap reporting, dates and details can shift, and Apple has not commented on any of it.

What this means for buyers
If you need an iPad Pro or a MacBook Pro today, there is no bad moment: the current M5 tablets and existing laptops are fully capable, and the reported 2027 hardware is at least nine months out.
