Samsung Galaxy Buds On: Price, Release Date, and Specs Revealed

Samsung Galaxy Buds On are official, bringing the company's first clip-on, open-ear earbuds to market ahead of an October 27 on-sale date in South Korea. Instead of sealing into the ear canal like the Galaxy Buds3 series, the Galaxy Buds On clip onto the outer ear with an open design, aiming at listeners who want audio without blocking out the room around them.

Price and availability

Samsung has priced the Galaxy Buds On at 299,000 won in South Korea, which converts to roughly $222. They go on sale there on October 27 in a single black colorway. Samsung has not yet announced pricing or a release date for other markets.

An open-ear, clip-on design

Each earbud sits on the outer ear rather than inside the canal, joined by an arched band that keeps the fit secure without an in-ear seal. It is Samsung's first design of this kind, aimed at workouts, commutes, and anyone who wants to stay aware of their surroundings.

Audio Leakage Reduction and TwinBoost sound

Samsung built in what it calls Audio Leakage Reduction, intended to keep sound from spilling out to people nearby, a first for the company's earbuds. An 11.3mm TwinBoost speaker handles low-frequency output, and automatic volume adjusts playback to ambient noise. There is no active noise cancellation, since the open design does not seal against outside sound.

Battery life and charging

Samsung rates the Galaxy Buds On for up to 9.5 hours of music playback on a charge, stretching to 38 hours with the case, and up to 5.5 hours of call time, or 25 hours with the case. Those figures come from Samsung's own testing with a recent Galaxy phone at default settings, so real-world results may vary.

Galaxy AI features and specs

Paired with a Galaxy phone running Galaxy AI, the Buds On can trigger Gemini Live hands-free, record voice memos with a long press, and answer or end calls with a head nod or shake.

Hardware specs

Under the hood is a Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform, three microphones plus a voice pickup sensor, Bluetooth 6.2, and IP54 water resistance. Each earbud weighs 6.65 grams, and the case weighs 41 grams.

Protect the Galaxy phone that pairs with them

Anyone adding the Samsung Galaxy Buds On to their everyday carry will also want the Galaxy phone they pair with to stay protected. Komodoty makes slim, precise cases for Galaxy phones, with accurate cutouts and support for wireless charging, in materials like aramid fiber and slim wood.
