Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Reports Point to September Launch With Dimensity 9500
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 series is now expected to arrive by September 2026, according to a leak shared on X in early July and matching reports from SamMobile. The timing would put Samsung's next flagship tablets on shelves ahead of the holiday season and follows the pattern set by the Galaxy Tab S11 series, which was announced on September 4 last year.
Two models, no base version
Reports agree the lineup will consist of only the Galaxy Tab S12+ and the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. Samsung is said to be dropping the smaller 11-inch base model for the second generation in a row, leaving the 12.4-inch Plus as the entry point and the 14.6-inch Ultra at the top.
MediaTek's Dimensity 9500 inside
Both tablets are reported to run MediaTek's Dimensity 9500, a 3 nm chipset that MediaTek rates at up to 32 percent faster CPU performance than the Dimensity 9400+ used in the Tab S11 series. Samsung leaning on MediaTek rather than Snapdragon for its flagship slates would continue the approach it took last generation.
Displays and batteries
Leaks point to OLED panels with a 120Hz variable refresh rate on both sizes. Battery reporting puts the Tab S12+ at around 10,500 to 10,600 mAh, a modest bump, while the Tab S12 Ultra is said to keep the same 11,600 mAh capacity as its predecessor.
Software out of the box
The pair is expected to ship with Android 17 and One UI 9.0. Samsung's recent tablets have carried long update commitments, and there is no indication that policy changes with this generation.
Timing against the iPad Pro
A September window would land the tablets in stores shortly after Apple raised prices across its iPad Pro M5 lineup, a move that made the premium Android alternative look stronger on value. It would also leave room for Black Friday promotions in the tablets' first quarter on sale, historically when Samsung's slates see their first meaningful discounts.
What remains unconfirmed
Pricing has not leaked in any reliable form, and the September window itself traces back to a leaker with a limited track record, so the schedule deserves some caution. Samsung has announced nothing officially, and specifications could shift before the tablets go on sale.
